For the family of kidnapped victim in Imo State, Mr. Nathaniel Ogu, life is nolonger rosy.
Mrs Oluchi Pricillia Ogu of No. 7 Rev Olutayo Avenue, Ago, Okota, Lagos State, who spoke to the Nigeria News Flight, lamented that since her husband, Mr. Nathaniel Ogu, escaped from kidnappers in Izombe, Imo State, in October 13, 2022 that the entire family had been living in fear.
She also appealed to the state government and security agencies in Nigeria for protection.
Mrs Ogu, who had earlier reported her husband’s plight to the Police on January 3, 2023, said that the kidnappers, who whisked her husband away along with other victims from their workplace, Addax Oil Izombe, Oguta Imo State, trailed the husband to his Lagos home.
She narrated: “My husband was working in an oil rig as a labourer under contract at Addax Oil, Izombe, Oguta Imo State.
“When kidnappers attacked and raided the site on October 13, 2022, he managed to escape to Lagos. Unknown to him that some of his colleagues who were also kidnapped alongside him, and later killed, were forced to tell them his address. They traced my husband to our Lagos residence; but luckily we were not at home. They found my husband’s cousin, Humphrey Ogu, and took him away. They left threat letter that they would be coming back and must kill every member of the family.”

Mrs Ogu further disclosed that their security man was also attacked by the kidnappers when they visited.
She also lamented that the whereabouts of Humphrey is not known since the incident.
Since their earlier report to lnspector John Oluwatise-led team, she said a police patrol team had been patroling her address. She also appealed to the Nigerian Police to put on more effort on the issue, stressing that they have not done enough.
Meanwhile, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma has intensified security in Izombe area, assuring that the oil zone will soon be peaceful again.
Insecurity is getting worse in Nigeria since President Bola Tinubu came to power in 2023.
