Manchester United are inching closer to the knockout rounds of the UEFA Champions League, thanks in part to a world-class strike from Bruno Fernandes in the 18th minute of Wednesday’s clash with Galatasaray.

After setting up Alejandro Garnacho for the game’s opening goal, Fernandes wasn’t looking to pass the ball when he surged forward, acres of open space between himself and Galatasaray’s retreating defense.

The Portuguese playmaker struck the ball from 25 yards out and well wide of the goal’s width.

Perhaps goalkeeper Fernandro Muslera felt there was no way Fernandes could generate the power required to beat him top corner at the near post, or perhaps he felt he had it covered himself.

Whatever the case, neither was true as the ball dipped hard and under the crossbar and Muslera came up empty-handed from his efforts.

Meanwhile, the match ended 3-3, with Andre Onana commiting a blunder in the second half that led to Galatasaray’s second goal. In all Manchester United impressed in the game.
