.Obi donates compuers to Adamawa school

Labour Party (LP) 2023 Presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, has called for transparency in the proposed tax reform of the federal government.
Obi, on X handle, @PeterObi, said that tax reform was not bad but must be done carrying the populace along.
He also said that the government should not be the sole beneficiary of the reform.
His words: “Tax reform is a critical issue, and there is nothing wrong with pursuing it.
“However, such reforms must be subject to robust public debate.
“A public hearing on tax reform is essential, allowing Nigerians from all walks of life to engage meaningfully. This is how we build public trust and ensure inclusivity in policymaking.”

Obi also urged the government to conduct public hearings to allow for diverse opinions and inputs.
“When considering tax reforms and similar issues, it is insufficient to focus solely on the benefits to the government, particularly in terms of increasing revenue collection.
“We must also take into account the overall impact on the nation and the sustainability of all its regions,” Obi said.
Meanwhile, the LP presidential flagbearer has
donated 10 computers and printers to Saint Augustine College, Mayo-Belwa, Adamawa.
At the presentation in Yola on Saturday, Obi said that the gesture was to help students acquire more knowledge in Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
“Today, we are talking about technology, therefore, our children need to be empowered with technological skills for them to excel,” he said.
Obi explained that the computers would help them to get more skills at their basic level.
Rev. Fr. Moses Maaji, Principal of the college, thanked and appreciated Obi for the gesture and assured to make judicious use of the computers for the benefit of the students.
In his remarks, Bishop Stephen Mamza, the Catholic Bishop of Yola Diocese, appreciated Obi for the donation and contribution for the development of education in the country.
According to him, the visit of Obi and donation are not because of politics. but his gesture in promoting education of young people to succeed in future.
He added that the computers would help to facilitate learning process for the purpose intended.
