Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State has called on Biafra agitators to have a rethink over insecurity in the South-East, Nigeria.

He made the appeal on the heels of rising insecurity in the region, alleging that hoodlums had hijacked the agitation.

Addressing Widows and Elders during a get-togather party at Ecumenical Centre, Abakaliki, the governor recalled that as the chairman of South East Governors Forum, he kicked against the agitation and warned South East of the impending danger that could come out of it.

He expressed regret over the insecurity in the zone, adding that people initially encouraged and supported them before it was hijacked by hoodlums.

“We are reaping what we have down. When these people started inform of agitation, the South East Governors stood against it, but a lot of people started encouraging it.

“I told them that this matter will go beyond Nnamdi Kanu. Now that it has gone beyond Nnamdi Kanu, every criminal is now IPOB and ESN; now we have another bandit called “ EKPE”. Is it the Biafra we deserved? We are now killing ourselves and be blaming others. That is why we said at the hit of that crisis that Ebonyi State will never be part of Biafra.

“If Biafra is to start killing people that have done nothing and start declaring sit-at-home; we have destroyed the environment for no reason,” he said.

The governor therefore urged Ebonyians not to hesitate from calling the phone numbers of security agencies to track down the hoodlums.

He said that it was unfortunate that the hoodlums were living in the forest which is never part of the culture of Ndigbo.

He also warned politicians who are sponsoring the hoodlums.

“We have phone numbers, tell us where they are in the forest; imagine an Igbo man living in the forest. It is strange to our culture. I am warning the politicians that are using them; they are the ones that have been suing Ebubeagu; are the one encouraging the killing of Ebubeagu.
