Mike Ejeagha cries as his song Gwo Gwo Gwo Ngwo from 41 years ago goes viral

With God all things are possible. And in life, one should not lose hope; but remain focused on whatever good thing one does. One day, the favour of God will locate you as long as there is life.
That is the story of the 92-year-old veteran highlife musician, Gentleman Mike Ejiagha, whose song, “Ka Esi Le Onye Isi Oche, has suddenly brought him fame and glamour at old age.
Very popular in the South-East Nigeria with his brand of highlife music, whose songs were spiced with Igbo folklore, Ejeagha, the instrumentalisit and singer, never thought that the track he made in 1983 would be viral and trending in social media in 2024.

Thank God the Ezeagu Local Government Area, Enugu State-born retired musician, who lives in Abakpa in Enugu, is still living to harvest the fruit of his labour at 92, as everyone in South East now sings, Gwo Gwo Gwo Ngwo, the chorus of the song. It also brought with it a uniq dancing style which is also trending.
No wonder Ejeagha was filled with emotion as his 1983 highlife song, “Ka Esi Le Onye Isi Oche,” unexpectedly gained widespread attention.
The song, largely forgotten over the past 41 years, was rediscovered when skit maker Brain Jotter featured it in one of his videos, sparking a viral dance challenge.
The original video on Instagram garnered an impressive 676,000 likes, while the TikTok version amassed over 11 million views.
The song’s resurgence in popularity has spread across Nigeria.
As a result, content creators have been paying tribute to Mike Ejeagha.
In one emotional video, the singer is presented with an envelope containing money and informed of his song’s achievement.
Filled with gratitude, Mike Ejeagha offered prayers and expressed his appreciation for the recognition.
