For the people of Amato Oboama Ezinihitte Mbaise, Imo State living in Lagos State, Sunday December 3, 2023, will ever remain green in their memories.
It was not only a day of gathering of who-is-who in Amato United, Lagos branch for the year end party, but an occasion of celebration of good health, happy reunion and honouring of a worthy and an award-winning son, Mr. Elvis Odoemena.
The unique ocassion, which started with praises and prayers led by the immediate past women leader, Mrs. Kina Amanze; and the blessing of kolanut by Mr Justine Nwosu, brought out the best from the current women leader, Mrs Blessing Emeagwara; and the Mr. Charles Ukpabi-led organizing committee, who made every member confortable at the event.

Though, the Chairman of Amato United, Pastor Christian Diala, was unavoidable absent, he was well represented by the Secretary, Mr. Jude Nwachukwu, who also informed members that one the elders, Chief Mathew Osuagwu, was still recupurating from ill health.
While thanking God for keeping them alive throughout the year, as Mrs. Pauline Urakpa and other women continued praise-sing their husbands, the chairman appealed to members to be more committed to the growth of the association by paying their dues and Insurance levies regularly and on time.
He reminded them of the January 3, 2024 deadline for the renewal of their insurance policey.
He was also full of praises as Odoemena presented his “Innovative Award” plague to the association.
The Nigeria Association of Technologies of Nigeria gave him the award recently for his innovations in the technological growth of Nigeria.
Odoemen, from Umuekwere Oboama, whose works, including fabrication of domestic machines and industrial tools, had been earlier recognized and acknowledged by the Federal Institute of Industrial Research, Oshodi (FIIRO), is poised to do more for the nation’s technological growth.
His latest one, which is making waves in Africa, is his melon (Egusi) shelling/peeling machine, which makes melon peeling less cumbasome.
In fact, his locally fabricated gas cooker is rated among the best in the world today.
Odoemena is also a manpower builder, who is empowering many youths technologically in his Egbeda Lagos office.
On why he is into fabrication of tools and machines, Odoemene said, “it is a calling that comes naturally.”
For his great achievements in technology, the Amato community, after the presentation of the portrait, urged him to continue projecting the name of the community in goodlight.
Responding, Odoemene commended the Amato community for the honour.

“I say thank you to the executive, members and our wives, who showed in their numbers. I pray God to always give us reasons to celebrate each other. I wish our chairman who was unavoidably absent speedy recovery in Jesus Mighty name.”
