IBBU offers employment, scholarship to two best graduating students

‘Aisha and Yahaya would be engaged as Graduate Assistants and would be sponsored up to PhD level’

The Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University (IBBU), Lapai, has offered automatic employment to Mohammed Aisha Egbako and Yahaya Mahmud Baba, the two overall best graduating students of the institution’s 2019/2020 academic session.

While Aisha Egbako of the Animal Production Department got a CGPA of 4.85 to emerge the overall best-graduating student in the 2020/2021 academic session, Yahaya Mahmud of the Department of Food Science and Technology came second with a CGPA of 4.90.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abu Kasim Adamu, who made the announcement during the institution’s fourth Combined Convocation on in Lapai on Saturday, further disclosed that Aisha and Yahaya would be engaged as Graduate Assistants and would be sponsored up to PhD level.

Also, 37 students from different departments and programmes bagged First Class Degrees; 954 awarded Second Class Upper, while 3, 283 bagged Second Class Lower.

Others, according to the vice chancellor, included; 1, 518 with Third Class, and 17 of them graduating with Pass, adding that the university graduated a total of 6,154 students out of which 5,719 were undergraduates and 435 Postgraduates.

As part of developmental strides to meet global education standards, the Vice Chancellor also revealed that the institution has created six centres to enhance Research, Innovation, and patency in the institution.

Part of the challenges facing the institution however is paucity of fund to accommodate the increasing challenges.
