IGP to punish policemen lobbying for promotion

Nigeria’s Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has threatened to punish any policeman lobbying for undeserved promotion or placement.

He said that due process must be followed to maintain discipline in the system.

The IGP gave the warning, while decorating newly promoted top officers of the Police Force in Abuja on Friday, June 14, 2024.

 The police boss wondered why some policemen go through highly placed personalities to demand for promotion, stressing, “Henceforth, any officer found wanting will be punished.”
