INEC ex-national commissioner congratulates  Adeleke,  offers advice

The University of Lagos former lecturer and ex-National Commissioner with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Lai Olurode, has congratulated the governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke, for his electoral and legal victory.

In the congratulatory message, Prof. Olurode acknowledged that both electoral and legal hurdles that he traversed were indeed tortuous and an ordeal.

But he advised the new governor to quickly settle down to commence a serious work of responding to the cries of the people of the state in terms of infrastructural deficit particularly roads, housing shortage, water supply and  decay in educational services.

He said, “It is now time to end partying”.

In considering people for political appointments, Olurode advised the governor to be all inclusive and avoid winners take all approach which is likely to breed instability.

He is advised the governor to reach out to members of “the opposition and thus making all to be stakeholders in governance”.

The governor was also advised to give greater weight to competence.

Olurode equally commended the former governor, Alhaji Isiaka Gboyega Oyetola, for being a gentleman who never sought violence in his pursuit of electoral justice.

He said that Oyetola remains a model in politics without bitterness who opted for the snail speed at which the electoral tribunals travel to street protests or the resort to violence in seeking electoral redress.

 Olurode appealed to the people of Osun to rally round the new government in order that  the aspirations of the founding fathers of the state of living springs will be realised.

He reminded Adeleke that a four-year-term  is not eternity.
