‘Ezuruezu Mbaise is uncomfortable with having a large gathering of people in Mbaise for now’

The apex socio-cultural organisation of all Mbaise people, Ezuruezu Mbaise, has said that the August 15, 2024 Iri Ji (New Yam festival) would be without the funfare that usually comes with it.
Ezuruezu Mbaise, which disclosed this in a statement, explained that the measure was necessary because of the security situation in Imo State.
It however urged Mbaise people to celebrate the festival in their families, villages and autonomous communities.
Ezuruezu Mbaise also dissociated itself from any attempt by any group purporting to organise Iri Ji on behalf of Mbaise.

Besides, the group said that it not invite and would not be inviting any individual, group or organisations to Iri Ji Mbaise ceremony this year 2024.
It stated: “Ezuruezu Mbaise, the apex sociocultural organisation of all Mbaise people, after due consultations with Ndi Eze Mbaise hereby issues the following statement:
Ezuruezu Mbaise is concerned with the current security situation in the different parts of Imo State where many lives had been lost due to security breaches.
“As a result of this, Ezuruezu Mbaise is uncomfortable with having a large gathering of people in Mbaise for now.”
