Manchester City have again shown superiority over neighbouring Manchester United with a 3-1 win in a Premier League derby at Etihad on Sunday March 3, 2024.

Though no one gave Manchester United any chance of victory considering their poor form this season, the Red Devils surprised their doubters with Marcus Rashford’s eighth minute stunner of a shot, which rattled Manchester City goalkeeper.

The goal, Rashford’s sixth in the season, was initiated by Manchester United keeper, Andre Onana, who located Captain Bruno Fernandes, who shielded the ball against City’s Reuben Diaz before passing the ball to Rashford.

Prior to the first half goal, Manchester City’s dorminance in the game was not in doubt as they controlled 75 per cent ball possession against their neighbour’s 25 per cent.

Manchester City pressure paid off early in the second half when Phil Foden found the net via a powerful volley which beat Onana, arguably Manchester United’s best player in the derby.

In the match, where Garnacho was opposite of himself with low rating, Foden stole the show with his two goals in the second half.

Besides, the pulling out of Johnny Evans in the second half did not help Manchester United as Haaland, whom he marked out, capitalized on that to score in the 96th minute, giving Man City 3-1 victory.

However, Manchester United gave a gallant fight in the face of several injuries plagueing the team.
