Ndidi scores in Leicester’s 5-0 win against Southampton

By Valentine Amanze

The dream of two Nigerian international players, Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho, to return to Premier League was actualized after Leicester City hammerd Southampton 5-0 on Tuesday to move four points clear of Leeds United, the second placed in the Championship.

The feat was facilitated by the Leeds United 4-0 loss to Queen Park Rangers (QPR) at Loftus Road.

With the loss, Daniel Farke’s side stay four points behind Championship leaders, Leicester, with only one game left.

The Foxes [Leicester City] remain on track to amass 100 points on their way back to the top flight following their relegation last season.

Leicester can now claim the Championship title on Monday with victory at Preston if third-placed Ipswich fail to beat Hull City on Saturday.

The contribution of Ndidi and Iheanacho to the return of Leicester to Premier League will not go unnoticed by whoever Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) chooses to manage the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

They may be some of the strong pillars the Super Eagles will rely on to beat South Africa’s Bafana Bafana in World Cup qualifying next month. valoa2000@yahoo.com
