The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) command in Bauchi State has arrested 288 drug suspects and seized 2.7 tons of various drugs between July 2023 to June 2024 in the state.
The State Commander, Mr Ali Aminu, disclosed this at a news conference to commemorate 2024 International Day Against Drugs Abuse and Illicit Trafficking in Bauchi onJune 26, 2024.
He said that the State Command arrested 288 drug suspects with a grand total of 2.7 tons of various drugs.
The drugs, he said include, “Cannabis sativa popularly known as Wee-wee, Diazepam, Exol-5. Pentazocine, Methamphetamine, Rohypnol and Tramadol.

He said that they were seized from July 2023 to June, 2024.
Aminu further said that sixty suspects had been prosecuted and fifty one pending cases at Federal High Court, Bauchi.
“While thirty five clients or drug users had been counseled and rehabilitated, majority of them through brief interventions in NDLEA Custody in the State,” the Commander said.
Aminu however warned the general public to stop indulging in the illicit use and trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.
The Narcotics Commander however warned that anyone arrested with hard drugs would be prosecuted.
He commended sister-agencies in their tireless efforts to assist in apprehending drug dealers. He further enjoined them to always liaise with the Agency in curbing the drug menace in the State.
Aminu appreciated the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Brig.Gen. Buba Marwa retired for repositioning the Agency and bringing in a new zeal into the Personnel to fight the scourge of illicit drug abuse and trafficking in the country.
He also commended Governor Bala Mohammed for his keen interest and immense logistics support rendered to the State Command towards eradicating illicit drug abuse and trafficking.
