By Valentine Amanze

Newcastle are keeping hope alive in their bid to play in the European Champions League next season with the 6-1 humiliation of Tottenham Hotspurs in a Premier League match played at St James’ Park on Sunday.

With five goals in 21 minutes, Newcastle completely washed away Spurs in their race for Top-Four in the Premier League.

Jacob Murphy and Alexander Isak, respectively, opened the floodgate of goals; each scoring twice, while Joelinton and Callum Wilson completed the humiliation.

The Three Lions’ and Tottenham captain, Harry Kane, pulled one back in the 48th minute before Wilson made it six for Newcastle.

Recall that Aston Villa humbled Newcastle 3-0 last week.

With Sunday’s result, Newcastle are now third in the league, while awaiting Manchester United, who have an outstanding match to play against Chelsea FC.

Meanwhile, Manchester United have qualified for this year’s FA Cup final.

The club defeated Brighton 7-6 in a penalty shootout after full and extrar time produced no winner.

The Red Devils are to meet Manchester City at Wembley for the final next month.

Manchester City reached final by defeating Sheffield United at the weekend.
