‘We are going to review conditions for land titles. It is not going to be about getting the C of Os; we want to see the lands being developed before we can take you serious’

Niger State government has threatened to revoke designated land titles acquired by individuals and corporate organisations in Suleja, Minna, the state capital; Bida, Kontagora and New-Bussa if the owners fail to utilise them within the next three weeks.
The state Commissioner for Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Mr. Maurice Magaji, gave the warning, while addressing journalists at the maiden post-exco briefing on Thursday.
Magaji wondered why land speculators disguise as
investors or developers to deceive the government and grab land ment for development.
“There are many abandoned projects that litter major towns and commercial cities. This is against the policy trust of the Umar Bago-led administration. It will not be allowed to continue”, he said.

He further disclosed that there were plans to review land acquisition policies that would mandate investors and developers to be more committed in their quest for land titles.
“We are going to review conditions for land titles. It is not going to be about getting the C of Os; we want to see the lands being developed before we can take you serious.
“We have taken this stance in order to sustain development plans that will outlive this administration,” the commissioner said.
