Kutigi: By partnering with Overland Airways Limited, Niger state government is setting new standards in regional air connectivity, with safety

Niger State government is partnering with Overland Airways Limited to commence uninterrupted scheduled flights operations from the newly inaugurated Bola Ahmed Tinubu (BAT) International Airport, Minna from Minna to Lagos and Lagos through Abuja back to Minna.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Overland Airways Limited, Captain Edward Boyo, disclosed this after the relaunch of the Minna-Lagos and Lagos-Abuja-Minna flights scheduled to begin on April 23, 2025.

The new Minna-Lagos and Lagos-Abuja-Minna route expected to save air travellers in Niger state time, money and inconveniences of seeking for connecting flights, will be another breakthrough by the pioneer Airline partner in connecting Niger state to some of Nigeria’s big cities and commercial hubs on daily.

Captain Boyo attributed the feat to the visionary leadership of Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago and the strategic efforts of the New Niger Development Project (NNDP) and the New Niger Aviation (NNA), a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) created to manage and enhance aviation ecosystem in the state.

The partnership between Niger state government and Overland Airways, one of Nigeria’s longest serving private domestic airlines, according to him, will bring succour to travelers, who are now saved from the risks and rigours of struggling to connect flights in Abuja to their various destinations.

The partnership with the longest-serving private domestic airline, Boyo said, represents key step in actualizing Governor Bago led administration’s infrastructural development blueprint in positioning the state as a regional hub not only for trade and investment but tourism.

“We are honoured to be chosen as the airline for this historic Minna-Lagos route, this service underscores our commitments to expanding connectivity across Nigeria and partnering with visionary governments like Niger state to bring growth closer to the people”.

While appreciating Governor Bago and the NNA team for the bold and transformational move, Boyo encouraged other states within the zone to take advantage of the opportunity to get their states connected with others through Overland Airways.

The Chief Operating Officer of NNA, Alhaji Liman Katamba Kutigi, had observed that the launch is more than an air route, but a bridge to much more opportunities for the parties.
