Niger NLC laments hardship, begs governor for fertilizer, others

Niger State council of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has appealed to the state governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello, to provide fertiliser and other farm inputs at subsidized rate for jobless youths and civil servants to ease the pressure of the harsh economy on them.

The state chairman of the NLC, Comrade Idrees Abdulkareen Lafene, made the appeal, while celebrating the 2023 International Workers’ Day on Monday.

He also advised Governor Bello to meet the demand as a parting gift before he leaves office in May 29, 2023 as a way to reciprocating the cooperation enjoyed from civil servants during his eight years tenure.

At the event held at the 1-2-3 Parade Ground, Minna, the state capital, Comrade Lafene lamented that many workers nolonger receive their full salaries, while others were made contract staff, stressing that such condition affected many homes negatively.
