‘There is the need to plan on how to protect our environment for renewable energy and mechanized farming for local consumption and for export purposes’

Niger State former Governor, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, has said that Nigeria is stagnated by lack of planning in every sector of the economy despite parading some of the best brains globally.
Babangida Aliyu disclosed this at the annual general meeting /election of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Niger State chapter, with the theme: “Public Relations in a Challenging Environment,” on Thursday.
The former governor also lamented that the lack of planning for quality education, and the health sector for the about 20 millions of school dropouts including the girl-child, had become a big challenge, as the number is expected to rise by 2050 when Nigeria is estimated to have 450 million people.
His words: “There is the need to plan on how to protect our environment for renewable energy and mechanized farming for local consumption and for export purposes”.

With its strategic location in the north-central, Babangida Aliyu said that Niger State surrounded by three prominent rivers – Niger, Kaduna and Gurara – could feed the entire Nigeria and export foods to other parts of the world with proper planning.
In his address, the NIPR National President, Dr. Ike Neliaku, represented by the Vice President of the institute, Professor Emmanuel Dandaura, urged NIPR members to uphold professional standards in order to maintain trust among practitioners.
One of the discussants, at the event and Pro-Chancellor of the newly established Abdulkadir Kure University of Education, Professor Mohammed Yahaya Kuta, expressed optimism that the new-Niger agenda of the Governor Mohammed Umar Bago-led administration would be a dream come to true.
