Nigeria Universities Commission (NUC) has approved the establishment of Abubakar Abdulsalami University of Agriculture and Climate Action, Mokwa, Niger state.
The specialized university to focus on agriculture, agro businesses and climate-related issues when fully functional.
It will also be the 65th state-owned university and the 277th in Nigerian universities.
Pro-Chancelor of Abdulkadir Kure University (AKU), Minna, Professor Mohammed Kuta Yahaya, while presenting the certificate of recognition to Governor Mohammed Umar Bago expressed optimism that the new university would meet the education and career needs of Nigerlites, the state and the country generally.
Receiving the Certificate, Governor Bago appreciated Kuta-Yahaya for the good work he has been doing for the state, especially in education.
Governor Bago reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to revamp the education sector and make it more responsive to the needs and aspirations of the state present and the future.
It was however gathered that Abubakar Abdulsalami University of Agriculture and Climate Action, Mokwa is the third state-owned university.

Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University (IBBU), Lapai, the first conventional state-owned university was founded by the late former Governor, Abdulkadir Kure.
The Abdulkadir Kure University (AKU), formerly known as University of Education with Professor Kuta as the Pro-Chancellor came into being barely two years now.
The Abubakar Abdulsalami University of Agriculture and Climate Action, Mokwa, the second university to be birthed by the current dispensation took Professor Kuta less than two years to actualize.
