Obi donates ₦15m to Philomena College of Nursing, reaffirms commitment to human capital development

Obi: A New Nigeria will emerge when we invest in our people and lift them out of poverty

Anambra State former governor and Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, has donated N15 million to Philomena College of Nursing Sciences in Benin City, Edo State, to support its ongoing efforts in healthcare training and delivery.

 The benovalence on Tuesday was part of Obi’s commitment to human capital development.

Obi, who has consistently advocated investment in healthcare, education, and poverty alleviation as the foundation of national development, explained that his visit and contribution were in line with his vision of building a “New Nigeria” through the empowerment of the people.

His words: “For Nigeria to truly develop, we must prioritise healthcare, education, and poverty alleviation —core pillars that define every progressive nation.”

He also commended Philomena College of Nursing Sciences for its critical role in producing dedicated nurses and strengthening the nation’s healthcare system.

While commending the management, staff, and students for their commitment and warm reception, Obi described such institutions as “beacons of hope” in the national development journey.

The Anambra State former governor pointed out that investments in education and healthcare were among the most effective ways to build a better future, stressing, “A New Nigeria will emerge when we invest in our people and lift them out of poverty.”
