Niger State Police Command has deployed three Deputy Commissioners of Police to the three senatorial districts to lead security surveillance before, during and after the Saturday’s Local Government Areas (LGAs) election.
This is in addition to the deployment of massive police personnel and operational assets including tactical teams such as 12pmf, 61pmf, Counter Terrorism unit (CTU), EOD-CBRN, Special Protection unit (SPU), Tactical Support team (TST), Crack squad, and Anti-kidnapping unit.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), SP Wasiu A. Abiodun, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.
He said that for a hitch-free election other security agencies under Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES) were expected to provide security coverage across the 4, 950 polling units and 274 Wards of the 25 LGAs.
Consequently, an Operation Order for the election duty had been issued to all Area Commanders, Tactical Commanders and DPOs stating their specific responsibilities, including escorting and protecting both sensitive and non-sensitive materials, and as well provide conducive environment for eligible voters to exercise their franchise.
Niger State Commissioner of Police, Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, according to the statement, reiterated the Command’s readiness to provide adequate security for a peaceful and credible election.

To guarantee a hitch-free local government election, the statement quoted the Police Commissioner as, urging all the participating political parties to play by the rules and also warned youths or anyone who may want to foment trouble that security agencies will not hesitate to clampdown on anyone trying to sabotage the exercise.
“Enforcement of vehicular movements restriction shall also commence from 6am-6pm on the election day, except persons on official on essential duties,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Governor Mohammed Umar Bago has declared Thursday and Friday work free day to enable workers to be part of the November 1, 2025 election.
