Women from the 13 councils of Ebonyi State have appreciated Ebonyi State Health Insurance Agency (EBSHIA) for its intervention to save lives across the state.
Recall that over 51,871 Ebonyians, including pregnant women, sickle cell warriors, among others across the 13 local government areas of the state were enrolled to benefit from the scheme to ensure quality healthcare delivery in the state.
The women showed their appreciation during the enrollment of pregnant women in Ohaukwu council, where they said that EBSHIA had restored the hope of an average Ebonyian, who finds it difficult to access medical treatment in PHCs and hospitals.
They prayed God to reward governor Francis Nwifuru and his wife for the support and welfare of Ebonyians.

On his part,the Executive Secretary of EBSHIA in Ebonyi State, Dr. Divine Igwe, while addressing newsmen during the enrollment of pregnant women in Ohaukwu LGA of Ebonyi State, stated that the agency through the support of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru enrolled state civil servants, sickle cell warriors, over 4,000 women, among others have been enrolled into the scheme to reduce the high cost of medical treatment for an average Ebonyian.
Igwe also explained that EBSHIA was for health financing which made it easier for people to access medical care at a very low cost, adding that maternal mortality had been reduced in Ebonyi State following the increase in enrollment of Ebonyians.
Some of the beneficiaries including Mr. Christopher Chukwu from Ohaozara LGA expressed joy over the intervention of EBSHIA in her wife’s safe delivery, saying that he will name his child after the wife of the governor, Mrs. Maudline Nwifuru, while Mrs. Chukwuka Promise from Ishielu; Mrs. Mgbebu Uchenna from Ikwo, among other pregnant women testified that EBSHIA under Dr Divine Igwe had impacted positively in their lives as all their medical bills after delivery, were totally cleared by the agency as a result of their enrollment.
