Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has called for peace, while regretting the leadership crisis that is rocking the state.
The governor also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Rivers State Elders for aiding the stoppage of the political crisis that polarized the state into two camps – those loyal to him and the group supporting the immediate past governor, Mr. Nyesom Wike.
In a statement titled, “Peace is Priceless”, published in his X, @SimFubaraKSC, at the weekend, Governor Fabara stated that without peace there would be no advancement in the state.
He also apologized to his subjects for the anxiety the political class has caused them in the past two weeks.
His words: “Let me clearly state that my actions are aimed at restoring peace and stability in our state.
“I am a man of peace and as governor, the advancement of our state is my primary concern. Consequently, no sacrifice is too much for me to make to achieve this objective.
“Furthermore, it is the collective responsibility of the immediate past governor and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, His Excellency, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, Life Bencher and my humble self, to leverage on our positions and influences within and outside the state to advance the progress, security and well being of our people.”

He however pleaded to his subjects not to allow circumstances that could retard all efforts at achieving greatness for the Rivers people.

Recall that the governor and his immediate predecessor, Wike, have been batling over who controls the state.
Wike is said to be claiming that he brought Fubara to power and as such would control the state from Abuja, while acussing Fabara of romancing with his “political enemies”.
