‘The list of the commissioners captured persons from across the 25 local government areas that made up Niger State’

Niger State governor, Mohammed Umar Bago, has submitted a list of 30 commissionership nominees including six women to the Niger State Assembly for screening.
One of the women, Mrs. Elizabeth Shaba, was Commissioner for Women Affairs under the Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu administration in the state.
The list of the commissioners designate to make up the State Executive Council (SEC) is coming barely a month after the Governor made first set of key appointments – Chief of Staff, Head of the state’s Civil Service (HoS); and Secretary to State Government (SSG) – all representing a particular religious order.
Also on the list that is now before the Legislature for considerations are experts cum technocrats of various specialties and politicians is former House of Assembly member, Hon. Binta Mamman (Gurara), and former Commissioner, Hajiya Hadiza Asabe Mohammed.
Others include: Hajiya Titi Auta, Mrs. Fatima Adamu and Hadiza Idris Kuta, who are believed to be on the list due to their political prowess that earned Governor Bago victory.
Apart from Bida and Kontagora which have two slots each that make up the 27 names, it was gathered that the names on the list of Commissioners captured persons from across the 25 local government areas that made up Niger State.
Niger State House of Assembly had earlier approved request by Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago to appoint 20 Special Advisers expected to support in piloting the affairs of the administration in the next four years.
