The Ebonyi State government has lifted embargo on enthronement of monarchs in communities that have none across the state.

Governor Dave Umahi announced this during APC  local government rally in Isu, the headquarter of Onicha Local Government Area, on Saturday.

Governor Umahi also directed the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Matters and Rural Development, Chief Donatus Njoku, to ensure seamless exercises in the state.

On the alleged candidature of an Onicha Local Government Area’s son in another party, Governor Umahi said, “This is the local government of the boy that says he has the ticket of PDP in Ebonyi State and this is humiliating.

“I am telling all the parties including PDP not to put money in Ebonyi State because they will lose deposit; we are in-charge.

“The killings here must stop; you are vying for this or that does not mean you have to kill your brothers and sisters.”

He however warned that general curses would follow perpetrators of the killings.

Governor Umahi also assured Onicha people that he would work hard to ensure elevation of the Federal College of Education in Isu to a university if elected as Senator in February National Assembly election.

The wife of the governor, Mrs. Rachel Umahi, appealed to the people to uphold the existing charter of equity by voting for Chief Francis Nwifuru and other candidates of APC during the elections.

“In 2015, the Abakaliki people supported us. They sent their kings and queens to support us; this is the time to pay them back and by the crowd here, I am sure we are ready to pay them back.

“Let us not mortgage our chances in the future, ndi South [the South people], let us support the Ebonyi North people so that within another 16 years, it will be our turn again.”

The APC Governorship Flagbearer, Mr. Francis Nwifuru, pledged to accord Onicha people a pride of place if elected governor in March 11 Governorship election in the state.

The Chairman of Onicha Local Government Area, Mr Chidiebere Agwu, Professor Okorie Ani, Chief Donatus Njoku, Professor Chigozie Ogbu, Mrs Chinyere Nwanoke, Mr. Chika Nwangele, Mrs. Elizabeth Onwe among others assured that Onicha people would ensure victory for APC in the forthcoming general elections.
