‘Nigerian electorates will not make the mistake of voting for people whose origin and/or citizenship and their academic qualifications are subjects of debate among Nigerians’

The Presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 general election, Mr. Peter Obi, has asked Nigerian voters to cast their votes for people they know from the cradle whom they could hold accountable.

He also appealed to Nigerians to align themselves with people they know their origin and who will not disappoint them when it mattered most.

Besides, he warned Nigerians not to make the mistake of electing people who will be presiding over the affairs of over 200 million Nigerians through proxy, stressing, “doing so will not be well for the country.”

Addressing thousands of supporters at the Minna Polo field on Thursday, Peter Obi who was in Niger state as part of his nationwide campaign tour reminded Nigerians that presiding over the affairs of well over 200 million people wouldn’t be that an easy task for just anybody hence the need to consider who will be able by all round assessment to take over from the incumbent President, Muhamadu Buhari.

Obi said that he was optimistic that Nigerian electorates will not make the mistake of voting for people whose origin and/or citizenship and their academic qualifications are subjects of debate among Nigerians and as well ensure that those to be elected live in Nigeria and will be available to attend to the needs and aspirations of citizenry without easily getting weary.

Presiding over the affairs of the most populous black nation in the world, Obi said is not about claiming to be competent, but ensuring that people who can withstand the rigour of the job are voted for across all three tiers of government and people who have the capacity to work and turn around the fortunes of Nigeria for the better within shortest possible time.
