Bauchi-based businessman, Tijjani Ahmadu Diye 35, has said that he tried to kill his wife by tricking and hitting her severaly on the head with a big stick.
Diye said that his intention was to kill the young woman, sell her television to raise money to boost his business in Bauchi metropolise.
He made the confession after he failed and was subsequently arrested by the Police.
The Police Spokesman in Bauchi State, SP Ahmed Wakil, confirmed Diye’s arrest in a statement at the weekend.
He narrated that on December 2, 2023 , detectives attached to ‘A’ Divisional Police Headquarters, Bauchi arrested Tijjani Ahmadu Diye, 35 years, for Assault, Causing Grievous Hurt and Attempt to commit an offense to-with Culpable homicide.

His words: “On receipt of the report, a team of detectives were drafted to the scene and evacuated the victim to Specialist Hospital Bauchi, where she was accorded necessary medical attention.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect admitted the allegation against him without much resistance.
“In his confession, the suspect raised false alarms that armed robbers entered their house. He quickly entered the bedroom, met his wife and asked her to cover her head with a scarf.
“He moved out of the room, covered his face with a scarf, armed himself with a pestle, came back to the bedroom, and started hitting her with the pestle.”
Meanwhile, the command Commissioner of Police (CP), Auwal Musa Mohammed, has directed that the case be transferred to State Criminal Investigation (CID) for discreet investigation.
