By Valentine Amanze

Human rights activist and founder of African Action Congress (AAC), Mr. Omoyele Sowore, has labeled the Rivers State former governor and current Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. Nyesom Wike, as the a major corruptor of the judiciary.

The branding is coming on the heels of the rising distrust of the nation’s Judiciary after its controvertial role on the outcome of the 2023 general election in Nigeria.

Sowore, who expressed his feelings on his X, @YeleSowore, on Wednesday October 23, 2024, said that the former governor was called the “Golden Boy of the Judiciary” because of his uncanny ability to help corrupt the judiciary.

The activist also alleged that Wike bribed the former President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Zainab  Bulkachuwa, to build the Court of Appeal in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Sowore also acussed Wike of allocating lands to senior judges in choice areas in Abuja.

His words: “Wike has been a major corruptor of the judiciary. In judicial circles, he is called the “Golden Boy of the Judiciary” because of his uncanny ability to help corrupt the judiciary.

“When Justice Zainab  Bulkachuwa was the President of the Court of Appeal, Wike gave her a contract to build the Court of Appeal in Port Harcourt and anything Wike wanted was granted before he asked.

“Even before he became governor of Rivers State, Wike was the go-to guy to buy judgements or judges during election tribunals or contentious legal matters.

“Building judges’ houses is a direct bribe; besides this brazen bribery of judicial officers, Wike is also allocating lands to senior judges in choice areas in Abuja as we speak!
