Nupe monarch Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar
‘Myself and all those blessed by God should assist the less-privileged Nigerians’

The Etsu Nupe and Chairman of Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, has donated N3.4 million, 130 bags of rice and 55 bags of beans to the less-privillaged in his kingdom.
He said that the benevolence was to cushion the effects of the present economic hardship on his subjects.
The monarch, who turned 70 years recently, also set up a three-man committee to ensure even distribution of the cash and food items to the district /village heads across the six local government areas of the Bida Emirate Council.
The donation, coming few days after cerebrating his 20th year on the throne and 70th birthday.
The Etsu Nupe however lamented the hardship in the land caused by the federal government’s fuel subsidy removal.

The First Class monarch said that the gesture was also to show his sincere appreciation to Almighty God for sparing his life to attain 20 years on the throne of his forefathers.
“Myself and all those blessed by God should assist the less-privileged Nigerians. There cannot be a better time to share with my subjects what God has blessed me with than now when the less-privileged Nigerians are in dire need of support from the privileged or wealthy ones”, he said.
Already, the three-man committee – Alhaji Abdullahi Umaru-Babannachi, Gafaka Nupe serving as the Chairman, Alhaji Alfa Kabareni, Jarman Nupe as member and Alhaji Mohammed Baba Busu, the Regional Editor of News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Jakada Labarin Nupe as Secretary – has commenced the distribution of the items to beneficiaries.
