CAN distributes food, other items to IDPs in Niger

‘Our prayers are with you always because we want you to return to your homes soonest’

Niger State chapter of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has donated food and other household items to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps in Paikoro and Shiroro local government areas of the state.

The CAN state Chairman, Rev. Bulus Yohanna, said on Thursday that the gesture was part of efforts by the Christian group to cushion the effects of the deprivation and hardship they go through away from the comfort of their homes.

Presenting the relief materials to the victims of armed bandits’ attacks, the CAN chairman, represented by the vice chairman, Rev Ezekiel Ibrahim, advised them to remain steadfast in prayers for a divine intervention that would end the activities of the evil men.

“Our prayers are with you always because we want you to return to your homes soonest,” he said.

The recipients, who were forced out of their ancestral homes by armed bandits, are hibernating in about eight local government areas in the state.

They are taking shelter at the Baptist Primary School and UBE School Gwada in Shiroro and at the ECWA Church in Paikoro. valoa2000@yahoo.com
