CBN, Sunna TV partner on sensitization of new naira notes

‘We are here to partner with you on sensitisation on the acceptance and deadline of the redesign naira notes’

An Islamic cleric and Director General of Bauchi-based Sunna TV, Dr Ibrahim Adam Disina, has pledged to sensitize the public on the acceptance and dateline of the redesigned naira notes by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Disina made the  pledge when the Director, Medical Services of CBN, Dr Abdulkadir Jibrin, led officials of the bank on a visit to Sunna TV in Bauchi at the weekend.

He commended the CBN for taking measures to strengthen the value of the Naira, especially the recent redesigning of the higher-denominations of the banknotes.

“The sensitisation was very timely and very commendable because I also think it was a reality but with your visit it shows the bank is out for the new naira notes.

“We will do our part at Sunna TV  through programmes and educate the general public on the objectives of redesigning naira notes and the dateline that old notes will seize to be legal tender ,” Disina said.

The Muslim cleric also urged the CBN  to increase awareness on the newly redesigned naira notes.

The DG Sunna TV however promised the support of  Sunna TV on awareness creation on the new notes as well as the dateline.

Besides, Dr Jibrin, the director, Medical Services of the CBN, had told Disina the visit to Sunday  TV was to seek the support of the widely covered Islamic media organizations that people turn to as well sensitize on the acceptance and deadline of the redesign naira notes.

“As media proprietor and Islamic cleric,  we are here to partner with you on sensitisation on the acceptance and deadline of the redesign naira notes,” he said.
