Petrol (pms) scarcity has crippled businesses in Ebonyi State following the government’s
removal of fuel subsidy on Monday.
In Abakaliki, the Ebony State capital, a litre of petrol, which sold at N200 now goes for between N500 and N700.
While most fuel stations remained closed, few that opened for transaction have long cue of vehicles, waiting for their turn to buy fuel.
Only Tycoon, Sharfa, Joak and few other filling stations opened for business in the entire state capital as at Wednesday May 31, 2023.

Others such as Conoil, Jesco, Braze Oil, and Hariz fuel station, didn’t open for business.
Motorcyclists – Nwamgbo Emmanuel, Innocent Anyigor, among others – who came to buy fuel, lamented over the sudden increase in fuel pump price.
They told Nigeria New Flight correspondent that the fuel scarcity has brought hardship to the people as cost of foodstuffs and other commodities have risen beyond the level of a common man.
They however called on the government to take urgent steps to address the situation as people are passing through difficult times.
