Gunmen have struck at Amenu-egu Okposi in Ohaozara Local Governmrnt Area of Ebonyi State, killing a young man popularly called Bigy.

The incident, which claimed the life of the man on January 24, 2024, was said to be politicaly motivated.

A source told Nigeria News Flight that Bigy was a victim of cisis between members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and Labour Party (LP).

It was gathered that Bigy was trailed and shot dead at Amenu-egu Okposi after he had taken the injured Coordinator of the Development Centre to hospital.

It was alleged that the coordinator (a chieftain of APC) disrupted the LP rally at Development Centre, which led to fracas that injured him.

The source narrated: “Problem started at a popular roundabout  known as Court Area when members of Labour Party (LP) started mobilizing support for their senatorial candidate in the forthcoming Ebonyi South Senatorial election; but the Coordinator of the Development Centre, who is a member of the ruling APC, was not comfortable with the mobilization.

“The Coordinator questioned why such a thing was going on without his permission as the Development Centre coordinator. The resultant misunderstanding between both parties became uncontrolabe.”

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Office in Ebonyi State, Mr. Joshua Ukandu, said that he was yet to get details of the incident and promised to give feedback on the killing later.

Meanwhile, at the APC  stakeholders’ meeting in the area, the Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, condemned the killing and warned politicians to desist from such dastardly act in the name of politics.
