‘The ICT surveillance system will capture anybody that engages in crime in any part of the state’

The Ebonyi State Commissioner for Information and Communication Technologies, Uzor Tochukwu, has said that one of the objectives of installing ICT facilities was to ensure security surveillance and the provision of free internet services to most public institutions across the state.
This followed the ongoing installation of fiber optics in some strategic places in Ebonyi State.
The Commissioner who made explanation in Abakaliki, pointed out that having an efficient and effective ICT surveillance system in the state was one of the dreams of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru to have a smart city where lives and properties would be well secured is inline with the People’s Charter of Needs agenda of the state government.

He further explained that the ICT facilities have the capacity to capture anybody that engages in crime in any part of the state, adding that it would also provide free internet services to many public institutions in Ebonyi state.
The Commissioner appreciated the efforts of governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru in providing sophisticated ICT facilities for safety of lives and properties as well as free internet services inline with global best practices.
“When you check item 12 of the People’s Charter of Needs, you will see ICT and smart city. If you glance through it, you will see the dreams of governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru on ICT.
“Currently, we are installing fiber optics. The main target is to provide free internet services to all the public institutions in the state. We are starting from Ebonyi State University, before every other institutions. The fiber optics can be used to carry out security surveillance across the state in order to protect lives and properties which is one of the key factors and cardinal objectives of this government inline with the People’s Charter of Needs. “The ICT surveillance system will capture anybody that engages in crime in any part of the state. The governor has many good programmes and policies, and he is a lover of ICT’, he explained.
