How Ebonyi communal crisis claimed two lives, injured police officer

Police Command in Ebonyi State has confirmed the killing of two people in the renewed Abaomege/ Ishinkwo communal crisis on Tuesday June 6, 2023.

It also disclosed that a police officer sustained injury during in the early morning attack.

The Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, explained that the three persons were shot by the Abaomege/Ishinkwo warriors as they were returning home but when rushed to the hospital, two were confirmed dead, while the police officer, who sustained injury, is responding to treatment.

Her words: “Three persons including a Police officer, who was returning home after the close of work, were shot at the Abaomege- Oshinkwo Communal crisis area by Oshinkwo Warriors. The victims were rushed to the hospital. Two of the victims were  confirmed dead but  the Policeman is responding to treatment.

“Intensive manhunt is on for the fleeing suspects.”

Recall that Abaomege/ Ishinkwo crisis has lingered for many years despite the efforts of Ebonyi State government to resolve it.
