Lt. Col. Agbu Kefas (rtd) has been sworn in as the fourth elected Governor of Taraba State alongside his Deputy, Alh. Aminu Alkali.
Kefas who took his oath of office and allegiance administered on him by the Acting Chief Judge of the State Justice, Joel .F. Agya, at 12. 15pm at the Jolly Nyame Stadium Jalingo on Monday May 29, 2023 in the presence of his mentor and god father, Gen. Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma (rtd), and the first civilian Governor of the state, Rev. Jolly Nyame, and other well wishers who came from all walks of life to grace the occasion, promised to prioritize security in his administration.
He said that security was top on his administration’s agenda.
Kefas also assured that he would focus on creating mentorship programmes, supporting initiatives and encourage innovation and creativity that would bring development
to the state.

He added that he would secure a great future for the next generation by providing new skills, encouraging vocational and technical trainings, promoting entrepreneurship, and creating job opportunities.
In his inaugural speech, Kefas announced some critical decisions for the betterment and well-being of all Tarabas.
His words: “Our priority is to maintain peace and security to protect all citizens from internal and external forces because security provides equitable platform for all kinds of development.
“We intend to make history by securing a better future for generation to come by building a Taraba that all of us will be proud to call our own. We are focused and determined to achieve this through engaging our energetic young youths and women in this state.
“I therefore, call on the experienced people in our community to join hands with us to tackle our enormous challenges ahead of us. We will look for the most qualified people to work in this government. I know the task ahead is challenging but its not insurmountable. I am also commited to leaving with vission, integrity, transparency and courage.
